Rosie had a wonderful house warming party, definite flat envy here! Not many faces there but all friendly. Within 10 minutes of arriving had an accident and smashed a bottle of cider everywhere, bit of a faux pas to say the least! Everything was fine in the end though and everyone was very forgiving, phew! I’d forgotten how fun much dancing like a loon is, there is never enough space in...

“It’s difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes...”
– Anne Frank I’ve just finished reading the diary she kept whilst in hiding from the Nazis, thoughts like this come between the everyday teenage/parent/boy issues and are just heartbreaking, but also inspiring.

This week has been busy. BIS-AYE! After recovering from our sides splitting we went into London to go laugh some more at a comedy benefit for No Sweat, the anti sweatshop movement. We being Katherine, Catherine, Rosie, Joe and I. Before the gig I dragged everyone to the museum of childhood to the Seven Stories Judith Kerr exhibition, was so glad everyone enjoyed it, it made me miss the place so...

Returned from Latitude today with achey legs and an achey head! Naturally I deserve no sympathy, it’s what happens when you get all dancey and merry in a field.  Pappy’s were my highlight. I love sketch comedy and these guys do it so well live! Tom Parry’s full frontal impression of Paulo Nutini singing Moon River has been burned into my retinas! I love comedy when it brings...

Just packed my bag for Latitude 2011. I did D of E a few years ago and used to get so stressed out packing the night before, but it’s so much nicer when you know the head of the group isn’t going to shout at you for taking noodles and bananas (not to be eaten together though, obvs.)  I have packed my spf 50+ to cover myself in but the weather forecast looks like it’s more likely...

Dedicated most of today to reading The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. It’s pretty good if you’re into creepy haunted houses and angry ghosties but not actually being frightened. I think I’d have enjoyed it more if I’d been reading it under covers with a torch under my chin and rattling storm outdoors. Well, I would have found it more believable some people were...

I ran for a hour whole without stopping today. I’m not sure what the distance was of that first 60 mins, but I walked until I had gone 10k in total. Although I run regularly, I normally take walk breaks so this is a big deal! I remember when running for 8 mins without stopping was an achievement. It’s so nice to look back and see how far you’ve come. Pun intended. Onwards!

I have spent the last couple of days with my friend Rosie which was so lovely. The island I live on feels a bit isolated when you have to rely on buses and tide timetables; it’s not the easiest place to get to and I appreciated the effort. We mainly watered and ate vegetables from the garden, watched Horrible Histories, made baby owl puppets aaaand got excited about Latitude festival next...

Librivox saves lives...or degrees →
I love this website. It’s a catalogue of the classics of literature already in the public domain (where the copyright has expired) turned into free audiobooks by volunteers. Although I study English Literature and am used to reading weighty tomes, there are some books that I really really struggle with; James Joyce and Henry James I’m looking at you. This is where audiobooks come and...
